Join the Jesuit Media Lab Book Club for a live Zoom conversation with author Tess Gunty on her debut novel, “The Rabbit Hutch.” When the novel won the National Book Award for fiction in 2022, Gunty became the youngest winner of that award since Philip Roth in 1960. And we think it’s a perfect choice for the JML Book Club community and can’t wait to discuss it with Tess Gunty and all of you.
“The Rabbit Hutch” explores the spiritual and social disconnection of modern life through the lives of residents in a crumbling Midwestern apartment complex. JML readers will be especially drawn to Gunty’s haunting, poetic meditations on the soul, suffering and the longing for transcendence in a secular age. At the novel’s heart is a former foster youth obsessed with Christian mystics, whose search for meaning echoes the tradition of saints and seekers. Don’t miss this chance to engage with a powerful new voice wrestling with timeless questions of grace, beauty and belonging.
Read the book this summer or early fall then join us for a conversation with Tess Gunty, facilitated by JML Book Club moderators Nick Ripatrazone and Mike Jordan Laskey.
